Convert AAC to MP3

Upload an AAC file and get an MP3 that plays everywhere. AAC is the lossy codec inside M4A and most video files; a raw .aac file is an ADTS stream without tags. MP3 is lossy; at 192 kbps or more the loss is hard to hear, and 320 kbps is the ceiling.

How it works

  1. Choose the AAC file (up to 500 MB and 3 hours).
  2. Pick a bitrate and, if you need it, a sample rate. The defaults suit speech and music alike.
  3. Download the MP3. It is deleted from the server after 60 minutes.

Questions

Is quality lost?

MP3 is lossy. Re-encoding one lossy file into another loses a little more each time, so pick 192 kbps or higher.

What happens to my file?

It is uploaded to our server, processed there, and both the upload and the result are deleted automatically 60 minutes after the job started. Nothing is kept, nothing is used for anything else, and nobody looks at it.

What are the limits?

Files up to 500 MB and 3 hours long. One job runs at a time on the server, so at busy moments yours may wait a little.

Do I need an account?

No. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to install.
